Hi! I’m Caryn, and I’m a full time hospice worker living in Florida for the past 15 years. It’s paradise for about 3 months out of the year, and I thank God for air conditioning the rest of the time. I’ve been an avid reader my entire life – fantasy, sci-fi, romance, non-fiction, YA, thrillers…. Pretty much anything that sounded interesting. Four years ago I discovered the MM genre when I read Marie Sexton’s book Promises, and I’ve been hooked ever since. She is still my favorite MM author, but I now have many others vying for that top spot!
Historicals are my favorite – when done right, I can be entertained, and learn a little bit at the same time. Most important to me in a book is characterization. I want to read about men and women who are real, and realistic; who are not perfect, but a healthy mix of the good and the bad; whose thoughts and actions are consistent with their personalities throughout the book. Even a somewhat lame plot can be saved if I fall in love with the MC’s, and a brilliant plot will leave me cold if the MC’s are one dimensional.
My house was overflowing with books that I couldn’t figure out what to do with until I discovered ebooks, and since then I’ve had a Kindle obsession. Some people have to get the latest iPhone, I need the latest Kindle, and now have 4, each with a couple hundred books on them. Maybe some day I’ll even read them all…
