A Stella Release Day Review: Unbreak My Heart (Unbreak My Heart #1) by K-lee Klein

RATING 5 out of 5 stars

Unbreak My Heart DreamspinnerBrett Taylor’s world collapsed three years ago when he lost the love of his life. Almost as bad as the grief is the advice he’s starting to get from everyone and their brother, telling him it’s time to move on. They’re flat-out wrong. He left his career as a musician and escaped to his ranch because he needs the peace and quiet, and he’s doing just fine. He doesn’t want anyone invading his memory-filled, booze-fueled solitude.

JT Campbell’s world has been defined by his parents’ money, status, and his own empty relationships, until he’s desperately sick of it. A quest to find something meaningful leads him to Brett’s failing ranch. It’s supposed to be a brief stay. JT never wanted to be anyone’s savior or compete with the ghosts of lovers past. Still, he can’t help wanting this gruff and grieving man.

JT’s mind knows it’s a bad idea, but his heart keeps pushing him to find out what lies beneath Brett’s rough and broken exterior. Brett’s not going to make it easy. JT can only be patient, keep his sense of humor, and hope for the day he may be allowed far enough into Brett’s world to unbreak his heart.

I read Unbreak My Heart when it was released the first time in the 2013 and I was soon conquered by K-lee Klein, in these years she easily became one of my favorite. This second edition has been  re-edited. I can honestly say I didn’t note a difference, to me it was great as it was three years ago.

The book is an amazing read, sweet romantic just how I like it. It’s pure romance. But never too much sweet, never shallow, always full of emotions, some to overcome, other to discover, none of them to forget. What caught my heart from the start were the characters, main and second ones. Although I have to say even the second characters wore important roles, Walt too. The author greatly portrayed them and made me love them at first sight. I love Brett and JT, with all their flaws. Brett brought tears to my eyes with every single letter he wrote to Walt, with every sip he took from his friend Jack Daniel’s. I adored how they were attracted to each other, how they waited to be right for each other. The chemistry, the friendship, all perfect.

The author spared nothing, she gave me backgrounds on every character, I learn their pasts and loved them more cause I know what they went through and how strong they became.

I want to highly recommend Unbreak My Heart to all of you. If you like very emotional stories and slow burn this is for you.

The cover art by Reese Dante is of course well done, I like the author style in general so I’m not disappointed. That said, I’m probably in the minority here I know, but I still prefer the cover of the old edition, maybe cause I’m used to it or maybe cause I just liked the colors more.
