Confronting the past is never easy.

Cole Whitaker is happy. He has the job and boyfriend he always wanted. His heart’s in no danger of being broken, and he can’t ask for more from life. As a kindergarten teacher, he sees it all; however, one troublesome student has him reaching out to the parent, wanting to help. There’s something about Savanah that tugs at his heartstrings.

He never expected her father.

Zander Brooks hasn’t had an easy life, and he’s made some mistakes. Freshly retired from the military and working as a firefighter, Zander thought he’d left Cole in the rearview mirror. He’s not expecting him to appear in St. Petersburg, Florida, of all places, teaching his daughter’s kindergarten class. Suddenly, his biggest mistake is being shoved in his face.

This is Zander’s chance to close a door he’d never fully shut, but time with his former flame might change his mind.

Excerpt

Time had done nothing to dull Cole’s memories of Zander Brooks, though he wished it had. His stomach rolled, and he had to lock his knees to keep upright. Breathe, Cole, you’re being dramatic. Of all the places for them to see each other after nearly two decades…. It was some consolation, a very small amount, that Zander appeared equally as shocked to see Cole. He stood in the doorway, unmoving and silent, his lips parted. Cole could feel Zander,s gaze on him like a physical touch. It made his skin prickle, his heart skip a beat. He was supposed to be over this.

Cole needed to find his words. He was a professional, and whatever personal history they’d had, it was just that. History. It was irrelevant in this room. He played pretend with his class sometimes. He could do that now. He cleared his throat, feeling a bit like a cat with a hairball. “Hello, Mr… Emerson?” It was less confident than he’d been going for, but it would have to do. Zander took a minute to noticeably reorient himself. He walked into the classroom slowly. His pace could even be considered hesitant. Cole tried to ignore the observation, the nagging surge of satisfaction that he wasn’t alone in being off kilter.

From behind him, Savanah snorted. Cole glommed onto the excuse to look away from Zander and turned to her. Savanah’s pert nose was scrunched. “Can I play outside?” she asked, gaze darting between Cole and her father.

Jesus. Zander was a father. Zander was the father who Cole had been wanting to meet. If Cole didn’t regulate his breathing, he was going to have a full blown panic attack. He’d been in love with one of his student’s fathers. He’d had his heart broken for the first time by him. Seventeen years later and it somehow still stung. “No, but you can use one of the stations,” he said, hoping he didn’t sound too strangled. He ran a hand over the back of his neck, damp from sweat. He thought it was possible he’d had a nightmare like this before.

Savanah pouted but went in silence to the reading corner. She made sure to scuff her shoes over the carpet on the way.

“It’s Mr. Brooks,” said Zander, sounding much closer. His voice was the same, deep and smooth like velvet. It sent parts of Cole’s insides fluttering in a way he hadn’t experienced in years.

Cole retreated under the guise of picking the workbook and pencil off the floor. Savanah had Goldfish crumbs littered around the legs of her desk. “Ah, I see. My apologies.” He aligned the book and pencil symmetrically on the scarred desktop. A few of the workbook’s pages were crinkled now, folding in on themselves. He tried to smooth them down and noticed in the process that Savanah had been working ahead. He made a mental note of it.

He was going to have to stop delaying and face Zander eventually. Could he play this off like he hadn’t recognized Zander or was that cat long out of the bag? “Why don’t you take a seat? I’ll be right with you.” He cupped his hand at the edge of Savanah’s desk and used his other to sweep eraser crumbs into his palm.

“Uh.” Zander coughed, shuffling his feet and rustling his jeans in the process. “Here?”

Cole managed to look at Zander at last. His lips even twitched into a half-smirk of their own accord at the picture of Zander squeezed into a child-sized seat. The smirk didn’t last long. Zander was too close. Cole could make out the nearly golden striations in his irises, could see the slow progression of his pupil taking over the brown. He had a scar at his temple now, a jagged slash from hairline to the arch of his eyebrow. Stress lines looked to be permanently etched in the dark brown skin at the corners of his eyes and mouth. If Cole didn’t know better, he’d have said he was staring at someone in their forties. The years they’d been apart had not been overly kind to Zander.

Strangely the realization left Cole with a hollow feeling, a tinge of… disappointment, maybe. He’d been angry with Zander with every fiber of his teenage being, but buried underneath had always been a quiet hope that Zander would figure out how to be happy.

Clearly he’d not.

A MelanieM Release Day Review: Sunset at Pencarrow (World of Love) by Lou Sylvre and Anne Barwell

Rating: 3.75 stars out of 5

Kiwi Nathaniel Dunn is in a fighting mood, but how does a man fight Wellington’s famous fog? In the last year, Nate’s lost his longtime lover to boredom and his ten-year job to the economy. Now he’s found a golden opportunity for employment where he can even use his artistic talent, but to get the job, he has to get to Christchurch today. Heavy fog means no flight, and the ticket agent is ignoring him to fawn over a beautiful but annoying, overly polite American man.

Rusty Beaumont can deal with a canceled flight, but the pushy Kiwi at the ticket counter is making it difficult for him to stay cool. The guy rubs him all the wrong ways despite his sexy working-man look, which Rusty notices even though he’s not looking for a man to replace the fiancé who died two years ago. Yet when they’re forced to share a table at the crowded airport café, Nate reveals the kind heart behind his grumpy façade. An earthquake, sex in the bush, and visits from Nate’s belligerent ex turn a day of sightseeing into a slippery slope that just might land them in love.

So many things about this book pulled me to it from the authors and that gorgeous cover to that idea of people meeting in an airport and making a special connection.  Yes, I know….but overdone or not, the idea is magic and possible.  Here the location, takes it that next step further.  The story is located in Wellington, New Zealand so the authors take advantage of the many incredible sights including the Orongorongos during a camping sequence and the coast.  We even get a small taste of an earthquake.  But mostly we get two men making a personal exploration of each other, physically, mentally and emotionally.

And something like that can be wearing at times.  Mind you this is a quick trip for one and a unfortunate delay for the other.  And Nate comes off pretty awful at times in this story, argumentative and irritating.  Sometimes Rusty is right behind him.  Each time they work through their various issues, which is nicely adult of them no matter they are strangers strongly attracted to one another.  Both Lou Sylvre and Anne Barwell write great characters and I see that both in Rusty and Nate.  One man is still grieving the loss of his husband, the other trying to recover from a bad relationship; not the best foundation when meeting someone you find hugely attractive with a limited timeframe.  So there is a lot of talking, stress, working things through internally and out.  The story is told from both points of view and third person, necessary to get everything in the authors are trying to accomplish.  However, when you are trying to do that in only 129 pages you might not be giving yourself (and the men) the time needed to let the reader in and really get to know these men and take them to heart.  One aspect I adored?  The fact that the men acknowledged they felt “something” more, maybe not love exactly, but something strong enough that they wanted to explore it further.  I liked that realism and appreciated it.  That was another factor that elevated this story for me.

I have to admit one of my favorite things about this story was the ending before the epilogue.  It takes place in the airport.  It has the right last minute romantic touch I just love in a story. Perfectly done!  The Epilogue was even better.  Still I wished for more length, more time spent with both men to get to know a bit more about them, their histories and maybe a little less of Nate “going off”.  But this is a lovely romance, sweet and heartwarming with a great location. I definitely recommend Sunset at Pencarrow (World of Love) by Lou Sylvre and Anne Barwell.

Cover Artist: Reese Dante.  What a gorgeous cover.  Caught my eye and kept it there, romantic and pertinent to the story.

A Lila Audiobook Review: Perfect Alignment (Thorne and Dash #3) by Silvia Violet and Greg Boudreaux (Narrator)

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Thorne proposed to Riley. Riley accepted.

Thorne thought that was that. They’d take a nice trip, get married, and spend a week luxuriating in a five-star hotel with occasional excursions to fabulous restaurants.

Riley imagined a traditional wedding with all the trappings. With all their friends and family. At Christmas.

Thorne concedes reluctantly, and a flurry of wedding planning ensues. At the same time, Thorne is wrestling with a recalcitrant client, and Riley and his business partner, Susan, are consumed with renovations and planning for the opening of their bakery. Stress on top of stress makes both Riley and Thorne doubt their relationship, and a major misunderstanding nearly silences the wedding bells.

By the time they reach their happily ever after, they’re both going to deserve all the romance they’ve been dreaming of.

Perfect Alignment is a sweet, HEA ending to a well-established series that brings Thorne & Riley full circle. We are presented with highlights from their past–how they got together–and their hopes for their future as married men. Throughout all this, their relationship becomes stronger and the last of their insecurities come down.

Most of the conflict in this story comes from miscommunications and lack of openness from both MCs. They still hold their cards close in order to keep each other, but at the same time, they run the risk to lose all they had built together. Their relationship is evolving faster than they expected, bringing their uncertainties front and center.

As with the previous books, the secondary characters are excellent and relevant. The settings play a part and the love scenes advance the plot without losing its uniqueness or steam. Overall, this is a nice end to a series and the perfect way to set up the spinoff including Marc and Darius.

Greg Boudreaux delivers the right intensity for this story. We get to experience Thorne’s and Dash’s love, doubts, and jubilation throughout the book. The narration brings this characters to life.

LC Chase’s cover goes with the rest of the series, giving the reader a hint of the events to come in this installment.

An Ali Recent Release Review: Action (Murmur Inc. #2) by Quinn Anderson

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Pete Griflow is the last person anyone would suspect of being a porn star. He’s quiet, gawky, and can’t even talk to guys without turning red. But on camera, he’s a different person. In the porn world, he’s Jaden Prime, a coquettish power bottom who’s been tantalizing fans for over a year now.

Pete is in a rut, though, and he knows it. And what’s worse, his boss knows it. If he can’t reignite his passion for the biz, he’s going to have trouble paying his none-too-cheap college tuition.

When Pete is given the opportunity to star in a huge summer production, sparks fly between him and his costar, Kyle Darko. Kyle is Pete’s opposite: he’s daring, achingly sexy, and in love with the sex industry. Their chemistry is palpable on and off screen, but dating on a porn set is tricky. Even pros struggle to separate fantasy from reality, especially with a script dictating their seduction. But what’s building between them can’t be ignored, and it’s so much more than getting some “action.”
This was a sweet story about two college aged guys falling in love.  The story is told from Pete’s point of view.  He works part time and goes to school but does porn on the side to pay for his education.  It’s something he keeps as a closely guarded secret.  He doesn’t really want to do the side job his boss offers him until he meets his sexy co-star Kyle.  Kyle is everything Pete’s not, including being proud of his job in porn.
The chemistry between the two young men is instant and it burns bright.  They’re not supposed to be together off set but they can’t seem to stay away from each other.  In addition to his anxiety about a first love, Pete has to figure out what he’s going to do about dating a guy who is totally open about his porn career.  This leads to a bit of conflict but it’s very minimal and is easily resolved with some good communication.
Overall I enjoyed this story.  In a way I felt I was too old to be reading it.  It was definitely a NA, coming of age and first love story.  I think I’m a bit jaded to buy an almost instant love like these two had and the old, cynical part of me doesn’t see it working out in the long run.  But, if you’re hearts not made of stone like mine is, you will probably find this sweet and a bit romantic.  It was nice to see a story that is mostly angst free and doesn’t fall back on the over used, bad communication trope.  This was a refreshing change.
This is the second book in the Mumur, Inc series but is fine as a standalone.  These characters, except for the boss, are completely different than the characters in book one.
The cover was done by L.C. Chase and I really like it.  The bright colors catch your eye and it  fits both the plot and the cover for the first book.  I like the uniqueness of the cover.

Julia Talbot on Books, Writing and her latest release ‘Riding the Circuit (Riding Cowboy Flats Book 3)’ by Julia Talbot (author guest interview)

Riding the Circuit (Riding Cowboy Flats Book 3) by Julia Talbot
Dreamspinner Press
Cover Artist: Bree Archer

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words is happy to have Julia Talbot here today talking about writing, books and her latest story in her Riding Cowboy Flats series, Riding the Circuit. Welcome, Julia!

✒︎

Hi y’all

I’m Julia Talbot, and I’m here to chat about me as a writer and introduce you to Matt and Frost, the boys from Riding the Circuit, my new novella from Dreamspinner Press!Riding

  • How much of yourself goes into a character?

I always put a little of me in. This story is set in Southern New Mexico, where I was born and lived twice, until I was seven, and then again right after college for 5 years. Now I’m in North Central NM, and still loving it.

  • Do you feel there’s a tight line between Mary Sue or should I say Gary Stu and using your own experiences to create a character?

Oh, see a Marty Stu, as I call it, to me, is a perfect character. Beautiful, good at everything, never misses a clue, always says the right thing. God knows that has nothing to do with me as a person. I’m a mess. Now, I do think there’s a fine line between using my experiences to flavor a book and self-insertion, which can be creepy. Thankfully, my boys tend to be the opposite of me.

  • Does research play a role into choosing which genre you write?  Do you enjoy research or prefer making up your worlds and cultures?

I adore research. I love historicals for that reason. I also love to do contemporary short erotica set in exotic locations I’ve never seen. But for my novels I tend to choose places and people I’m more familiar with so I can settle in and live with them.

  • Do you read romances, as a teenager and as an adult?

OMG I devoured Harlequin books as a teenager. My aunt had a subscription and I spent 3 boring weeks with her every summer in Deep East Bumble (aka Hickory Grove, South Carolina), so I spent all my time not running amok with the neighbors dogs reading. I could read 3 little romances a day.

  • Who do you think is your major influence as a writer?  Now and growing up?

As a kid? Elizabeth Peters. Elizabeth Lowell. Karen Robards. Now? Joey W Hill and Samantha Kane

  • How do you choose your covers?  (curious on my part)

For the most part, we tell the publisher what we’d like to see and an artist works within their guidelines to produce a cover we all like. If I hire a cover for a self pub, I get more say, but so far I haven’t been able to afford a custom photo shoot, but I have high hopes!

  • What’s next for you as an author?

Right now I’m working on a demon paranormal investigator, plotting the sequel to Wolfmanny and doing edits on a couple of reprints. I can’t wait to see where the next cowboy story leads me, too!

Thanks so much for letting me babble at y’all!

About Riding The Circuit ~ Riding Cowboy Flats: Book Three

Rodeo cowboy Frost Barton spends most of his time on tour, and that’s the way he likes it. But when his dad dies suddenly, Frost returns to southern New Mexico to attend the funeral and help his mom decide what to do with their small family ranch. Frost is already considering retiring from bull riding and planting his itchy feet in the ground. Meeting horse trainer Matt Morales just adds another pull in that direction, though Frost still isn’t sure he’s ready to give up the circuit—even if Matt makes settling down look mighty tempting.

Matt is old enough to know better, but he falls for Frost anyway. They only have so much time to spend together before Frost goes back on tour, but Matt believes they might have something special. He keeps the home fires burning while Frost earns his living, but Matt hopes he can convince Frost to come home—to stay.

A MelanieM Review: Junk (Bristol Collection #1) by Josephine Myles

Rating: 4.25 stars out of 5

Letting go is the first step to healing…or bringing it all crashing down.

When an avalanche of books cuts off access to his living room, university librarian Jasper Richardson can no longer ignore the truth. His ever-growing piles of books, magazines and newspapers can no longer be classified as a “collection”. It’s a hoard, and he needs professional help.

Professional clutter clearer and counselor Lewis Miller thinks he’s seen it all, but even he has to admit he’s shocked. Not so much by the state of Jasper’s house, but by the level of attraction he still feels for the sexy bookworm he remembers from school.

What a shame that Lewis’s ethical code forbids relationships with clients. As Jasper makes slow but steady progress, though, the magnetic pull between them is so strong even Lewis is having trouble convincing himself it’s a temporary emotional attachment arising from the therapeutic process.

Jasper longs to prove to Lewis that this is the real deal. But first he’ll have to lay bare the root of his hoarding problem…and reveal the dark secret hidden behind his walls of books.

Product Warnings
Contains a level-headed counselor with a secret addiction, a bespectacled geek with a sweet tooth, a killer “to-be-read” pile, embarrassing parents, a van called Alice, and deliciously British slang.

In some ways I thought I ought to give Junk (Bristol Collection #1) by Josephine Myles two different ratings.  One for its superb treatment of mental illness of hoarding and another for the romance.  Junk is not a light hearted romance.  At its center is a man who’s been deeply wounded by life and his mother.  Its manifested itself (although it is can be genetic in origin too ) in a hoarding situation that has taken away what little remained of his life and now his home.  Jasper is reduced to a cold house and a few rooms.  From the moment we meet Jasper in his despair, stacking his newspapers and journals in hallways and rooms, we want to cry for him.  Its an awful situation, one he realizes he needs help for if he can only dial the  number he’s programmed into his phone.

The way in which Myles writes Jasper and his illness allows us to see someone with this illness and view them with compassion instead of the disgust or pity you might feel from a newscast.  It brings us inside Jasper’s head and emotions, allowing us to feel his hopelessness, loneliness and pain over his life and inability to let go of his books and papers.  Plus there’s something more lurking in the background waiting to be revealed. How it’s slowly pulled out of Jasper is heartbreaking.  It makes for hard reading because it’s authentic emotions pouring forth from Jasper and those around him, especially Lewis and his sister, Carroll, who are trained to work with hoarders.    We see it from Jasper’s side and from Lewis and Carroll’s when their frustration builds up as Jasper and others refuse or are unable to move forward.  Lewis has more insight as he too is a hoarder of clothing, now his is under control.  I wish the author had given us more of Lewis here but the story is so full as it is, I’m not sure there was room – no pun intended.

I give Junk a 5 star rating when dealing with the element of hoarding and Jasper.  It delves deep into the issues that spark hoarding and the successful recovery for people such as Jasper.  I was cheering for Jasper here with tears in my eyes.   This whole part of the storyline is so gripping and huge that emotionally I’m not sure it leaves that much for the romance here.

I thought the romance and back history to Jasper and Lewis was so touching and sweet but their courtship/relationship is shadowed by the bigger issue of Jasper’s hoarding.  Lewis uses it as an excuse not to get involved (and I found myself agreeing with him up to a point) because getting Jasper better should be the priority here.  After a bit my frustration was with Lewis.  I liked the romance, it was sweet and rewarding.  In a way it could have used its own story.  But because I was so focused on Jasper’s illness and his recovery, I had less emotion left over for his romance.  It’s just the way it worked out.

I enjoyed all the secondary characters, from Carroll the sister, to Mas (a hookup who became Jasper’s friend), truly a wealth of friends here.

All in all, this is a terrific story.  I took Jasper to heart, rooting for him, loving him and when we and Lewis walked through his house, all newly done and clear, I bawled like a baby.  Trust me, this is one book you won’t want to miss out on.  I highly recommend Junk (Bristol Collection #1) by Josephine Myles.

Cover art by Lou Harper is so perfect for this story and characters. Loved it.

An Ali Audiobook Review: A Kind of Honesty (A Kind of Stories #3) by Lane Hayes and Seth Clayton (Narrator)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Music is drummer Tim Chalmers’s great escape and the one thing that’s never let him down. But his band Spiral’s meteoric rise to fame has made it difficult for him to maintain a low profile. Unwanted press pesters him after a public breakup with a volatile ex-girlfriend who loves the limelight as much as he loathes it. Tim’s main goal is to avoid confrontation. However, when a handsome stranger in a dive bar turns out to be someone he might know, everything changes.

Carter Hamilton-Temple might be a successful financial consultant with more brains, sophistication, and charm than most, but he always falls for the wrong guys: closet cases or men with issues. He can’t fight his attraction to tattooed rock star Tim, but can he trust his own judgment? When the thrill of danger combined with a fierce physical connection proves too strong for either man to resist, a quiet liaison away from the public eye and curious friends seems like a safe bet. But some secrets are hard to keep. When rumors threaten to rock his world, Tim realizes it’s time to confront his fear with his own kind of honesty.
This was another entertaining installment to this series.  These two were very different from each other but a really great match.  Their chemistry jumped off the page at the reader.  They meet in Los Angeles while they’re both there on business.  They have a hot one night stand and never expect to see each other again.  Imagine their surprise when they see each other again in New York (where they live) and find out they have mutual friends.
Although they are attracted to each other, Tim is hesitant to get more emotionally involved.  He’s just out of a really bad relationship and he has only been seen in public with women.  He’s not sure what the media will do if he’s seen with a guy.  Also, he was burned very badly in the past by his one and only relationship with a man.  He’s scared to take another chance.
The love story is a slow build up.  They initially start seeing each other just for sex, but scene by scene, they build a friendship that turns in to a love story.  The author does a very good job showing the reader how they fall for each other.
There’s some drama towards the end with Tim’s ex and his overall refusal to admit he’s in a relationship with a man.  Carter was great in this book.  He was so patient with Tim but when he needed to put his foot down he did.  I think these two were my favorite couple in this series so far.
This book was narrated by Seth Clayton and  there is just something about the way he talks that bothers me.  His cadence seems odd to me. I only listened to about 30% of this then I switched to the ebook.  I have a friend though that just loves him so there is a good chance this is my issue alone. If you’re interested in listening to this I recommend you try a sample first to see if you like his voice.
This book is the third in the series and can be read as a standalone.  There are appearance from both couples from books 1 & 2 but there is nothing that would keep you from enjoying this even if you haven’t read those books.
This cover was done by Aaron Anderson.  I liked it a lot.  It matches the other covers in the series really well and it’s eye catching.  It’s also a good representation of the MC.

Where did the title “Broke Deep” come from?

by Charlie Cochrane

I’m not very good at coming up with good titles for books. I usually end up picking the brains of friends or colleagues or editors or anybody I can get my paws on. When we brainstorm a good, catchy title it feels like my team winning a game by fifteen points and on the rare occasion I come up with a name for the book all on my own it’s like I won the lottery!

So I am truly Smuggerella about “Broke Deep” which is my idea and mine alone and which works for this story on two levels. My protagonist Morgan is feeling broken, in terms of relationships and his own health but there’s also the story of a shipwreck which plays a pivotal part in the plot – a ship literally broken on the rocks – and it’s from a reference to a famous real shipwreck the title comes. I’ve always enjoyed the music of Gordon Lightfoot, and in 1976 I bought the atmospheric single “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”, which I played and replayed until I almost wore the grooves out. I had no idea at the time it was a story about an actual wreck.

There is something eerily fascinating about the loss of a ship; we all know tales of the Titanic or the Mary Rose. I’ve seen the latter on exhibit in Portsmouth and she’s like a time capsule. Who walked those decks? What were they thinking as they set out? Whether a ship is made of oak (one of the “wooden walls” of old England, maybe) or metal, as the Edmund Fitzgerald was, it’s still at the mercy of wave and weather and the loss of vessel and crew is tragic.

In Lightfoot’s song there is a line that the ship “may have broke deep and took water”, which interested me. Break is an old word for a ship being wrecked; it also means to part the surface of something, so a ship moving through waves will break the surface of the sea. If it breaks deep, that must mean the bow dipping so far into the water that the waves pour over it. Such a powerful image of a mighty vessel being overcome by the power of nature. One day I was listening to the song and I realised that image was redolent of Morgan being overcome by the circumstances of his life. Unlike the ship, though, he finds hope and safety.

Broke Deep is the story that refused to sit down and take no for an answer, a tale that waited patiently in my works-in-progress folder for a setting and a context to do it justice. When the Porthkennack universe opportunity came along, Broke Deep bounced into my mind like the most insistent plot bunny, saying, “That’s my home! Write me there!”

Reader, I did.

About Broke Deep

Morgan Capell’s life is falling apart by small degrees—his father’s dead, his boyfriend dumped him, and his mother’s in the grip of dementia. His state of mind isn’t helped by his all-too-real recurring nightmare of the wreck of the Troilus, a two-hundred-year-old ship he’s been dreaming about since his teenage years.

The story of the Troilus is interwoven with the Capell family history. When amateur historian Dominic Watson inveigles himself into seeing the ship’s timbers which make up part of Morgan’s home, they form a tentative but prickly friendship that keeps threatening to spark into something more romantic.

Unexpectedly, Dominic discovers that one of the Troilus’s midshipman was rescued but subsequently might have been murdered, and persuades Morgan to help him establish the truth. But the more they dig, the more vivid Morgan’s nightmares become, until he’s convinced he’s showing the first signs of dementia. It takes as much patience as Dominic possesses—and a fortuitous discovery in a loft—to bring light out of the darkness.

About Porthkennack

Welcome to Porthkennack, a charming Cornish seaside town with a long and sometimes sinister history. Legend says King Arthur’s Black Knight built the fort on the headland here, and it’s a certainty that the town was founded on the proceeds of smuggling, piracy on the high seas, and the deliberate wrecking of cargo ships on the rocky shore. Nowadays it draws in the tourists with sunshine and surfing, but locals know that the ghosts of its Gothic past are never far below the surface.

This collaborative story world is brought to you by five award-winning, best-selling British LGBTQ romance authors: Alex Beecroft, Joanna Chambers, Charlie Cochrane, Garrett Leigh, and JL Merrow. Follow Porthkennack and its inhabitants through the centuries and through the full rainbow spectrum with historical and contemporary stand-alone titles.
