Rating: 3 star out of 5 stars
Successful lawyer Santi Herrera couldn’t be happier with the direction his life is taking. Not only is he on track to becoming a partner in his law firm, but he’s planning his wedding to Hank Burton, a south Texas contractor who has made a name for himself despite his humble beginnings. The introverted, lone wolf Santi and the friendly, outgoing Hank complement each other perfectly. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they were hooked, and as far as Santi and Hank are concerned, a happily ever after is their destiny.
But fate deals them a devastating new hand. A construction accident leaves Hank with severe head trauma and brings him precariously close to death. When he finally awakens, Hank doesn’t remember Santi or the love they shared for the past three years. Santi faces the greatest challenge of his life. Can he respark a flame his lover can’t recall? And can he stop the diverging paths that fickle fate charts between them?
This is a first for me by this author. I was immediately drawn in by the blurb. I felt like it had all the items to make a 5 star read for me. I’m a sucker for hurt/comfort with last love. It might have worked itself out but the entire time reading this I felt one word described it: Stagnant. I didn’t feel my usual emotions in hurt/comforts until 88%. To me I did not see the passion between the two MC’S. It seemed almost of convenience being with each other. The attraction seemed almost instant love. They see each other spend a week with each other then they are together that’s all we got.
The secondary characters definitely outshined the main two guys in my opinion. I liked Santi and Hank, I didn’t love them. I most likely latched onto Hank first, Santi just came out not interested. He wasn’t interested in his own love life at first. The only saving grace for me was the ending. After everything was said and done I really enjoyed Santi’s reasoning and selflessness he possessed. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy hurt comfort, and HEA.
