Review: Prince and Bodyguard (Perilous Courts Book 4) by Tavia Lark

In one sweet, moving, and foreboding scene from the Prologue, Lark manages to set her characters and simultaneously break our hearts even before the present day story begins.

It’s a succinct , heartbreaking sentence and we’re pulled in and completely crushed emotionally.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lark’s Perilous Courts series since I read the amazing Prince and Assassin book with it’s haunting, damaged character of Whisper, one of the famed Kennel hound assassins who ends up with a Prince of the intriguing Silaise Kingdom, Julien. It was my favorite book, until now. Mostly because of the Kennel Hounds aspect and the character of Whisper who has managed to remain such a strong, complicated character throughout the series.

Stories one through three centered around the three Princes, their magical abilities, and the power structure of their matriarchal Kingdom of Silaise.

Now Lark switches focus to a new realm but one that’s had a huge impact on the other stories and kingdoms. That’s Draskora, an island Kingdom that’s incredibly powerful, incredibly wealthy and with a magical ability for weather. But more importantly, it’s has two things no one else has and everyone else wants. Scalestone, a purple stone that is mined and dragons that need Scalestone. The kingdom that has one, controls the other.

Its people are also known for their purple colored eyes (see Whisper), an effect that comes from the Scalestone. A harsh, cruel place that is mirrored by its rulers, King Imrik, his bloodmage wife, and his three sons, two of whom are adopted through coercion treaties with neighboring kingdoms forced to give up their sons. The other a natural son considered spoiled if a bit unstable.

Prince and Bodyguard starts the Draskoran three son arc.

This is the story of how Vana Kaiskara Tellik of the Kingdom of Kaiskara became Vana Dire, adopted son of Imrik, wielder of storm powers, along with his bloodguard Daromir Azri.

It’s got everything. Magic, dragons, political schisms within the ruling family, layers of pain and damage to the characters and unbelievable chemistry to the dynamics between Vana and Daromir.

The author continues to weave her world arc threads into the ongoing drama, here bringing back characters from prior novels as well as elements such as the Kennel Hounds, and Fellrin fellcats, which will help set up the next novel.

It’s a series that is playing out like a huge board game but we can’t yet see all the pieces. I’m sure Fellrin or Kaiskara is coming,knowledge of each of those places have been very interesting but limited.

And the prize or prizes at stake are Scalestone and dragons which will see that whoever has them has the power or potential to control what the other kingdoms are able to do logistically, monetarily and influentially.

But as rich as this is in details, as layered in cultural fabrication and depth of imagination, it beats at its center a heart that’s guaranteed to make you weep more than once , and then want to shout for joy.

It’s that fabulous a story and a journey for two men over time.

Yes, definitely my favorite. And one I’m highly recommending, along with this incredible series. But it has to be read in order to understand the complex character relationships, the situations and story development.

Review: Brought To Light by Eliot Grayson

I don’t know how I missed this first time around but I’m overjoyed to have discovered it now when it was re-released this May.

A delightful beautifully crafted urban fantasy story, it has such a great storyline, one guaranteed to draw the reader in.

It all starts with a hitman scoping out his target in a small coastal village, just after Christmas. A two person narrative, it’s the assassin who’s first up in telling us his perspective on the events of that evening.

He’s really not prepared for anything he’s seeing, but he has no choice.

Callum, our hit man, has been hired against his will to kill an innocent young man, if his and his partner’s research is to be believed.

Grayson’s believable characterization of Callum, the tired killer desperately seeking another way out of this contract, is perfectly realized and raw. More so once he sees his actual victim and talks to him.

That would be Linden, a Fae walking or hiding in the mortal realm from the very person who wants him dead. Linden, a Fae cook’s bastard son, has the unfortunate position of being the person named as the being a prophecy said would end an evil Lord’s life. Needless to say, that Lord’s not happy about it. And is trying to kill Linden.

Grayson has written a fantastic fantasy adventure story, one which has evil lords, magical powers, wonderful found family friends of both Fae and human kind, terrifying creatures, battles, and romantic love!

How an assassin and a Fae slay an evil lord, save a Kingdom, and find true love! Honestly, it’s a fantastic story! With great characters! I’m so on board with assassins finding happiness these days.

And assassins ending up in another realm that’s made for them? Perfection. It’s not a new concept but Grayson has done an imaginative and wholly satisfying job here with it.

I certainly wouldn’t mind a return trip to see how everyone is doing. What a universe.

I’m highly recommending Brought To Light by Eliot Grayson for all lovers of urban fantasy and romance in general.

Elias closed his eyes and clasped his hands under his chin, sending a fervent prayer to the gods, asking for a sign. Any sign that would lead him home. Seconds passed. Minutes. He cracked open one eye to look around. Seeing nothing, he glared and set his fists on his hips.

So much for divine intervention.

“I’m one of your priests, and you don’t give me the time of day,” he mumbled as he set off down the left-hand path.

He was hungry again.

Even as he was contemplating the pros and cons of eating one of his last apples, he stumbled around a thick tree before halting in shock.

An orc sat on the ground, his greenish-gold skin glistening with sweat and his coal-black eyes glaring with menace. He was almost bald, except for a spiky strip of green hair running from his forehead to the back of his skull. The lack of hair accentuated his large ears that moved independently of each other. Two pronounced fangs jutted up from his lower jaw, which was square and blunt, and more sharp teeth showed when he growled.

Elias stayed frozen, taking in the long black tunic cinched at the waist by a gold cord. The short sleeves were trimmed with gold thread, baring muscled arms. The stately garb struck Elias, making him wonder as to the status of the orc. Did they have hierarchy as humans did? The tunic ended around his knees, leaving the rest of his muscled legs bare. Also, this orc wasn’t of monstrous size, so he couldn’t be of the mountain variety. He was certainly taller and broader than Elias, but also leaner, corded with muscle, like that big cat Elias had spotted earlier. And his face was… not horrible. Brutish and sharp but not hideous or even ugly. Those illustrators of tomes really set out to depict orcs as the most horrific creatures ever to grace the earth.

The urge to run made his palms grow damp and his breath to quicken. Not that he could run for more than a few steps before wheezing because he was so damn out of shape, and why the hell didn’t he train with his brother? I’m going to die, I’m going to die….

Then his gaze traveled down to the reason the orc was sitting on the ground and not eating his face. Vicious steel jaws had the orc by the ankle, piercing deeply into his flesh. The jaws were attached to a chain that was buried into to the earth. The fact the orc hadn’t freed himself meant this was one of the trick jaws. One specifically made for capturing orcs. The scoured earth around the chain proved that the orc had tried to dig himself free but clearly hadn’t succeeded. His ankle was a mess of torn flesh and caked blood, and only then did Elias notice the buzz of flies.

How long had he been sitting there, in pain? In fear?

Sympathy rose with anger not far behind. Elias and the orc stared at each other, and Elias found himself stepping closer without consciously deciding his actions. The orc growled deeper, eyes narrowed in warning. Elias stopped again, wondering what he was doing. This was an orc! The enemy! The beasts that kept trying to take their lands. Attius’s tirades whirled through his mind even as the battle songs about marauding orcs jangled in his memory.

He’d never joined in. He’d never had anything personal against orcs. He never thought one way or another about them. Fighting them wasn’t a part of his world. Most of his life had been spent ensconced in the Temple of the Divine Sibyl, which was safely behind fortified stone walls and separated from the general populace of the city.

He was sheltered and he knew it. To see such ugly pain in another living creature struck him to the core. That was one of the reasons he didn’t eat meat. He couldn’t reconcile killing just to feed himself when there were plenty of other things to consume if he simply looked.

At that moment, this orc was no different than any other wild animal caught in a trap. And would he let such a creature die so horribly? No, he would not.

Taking a deep breath, and with more courage than he would profess to have, Elias crouched before slowly pushing off his pack. He kept his eyes on the orc and opened the top flap before tilting it to show the orc that it only held medicines, plant samples, parchment, and ink.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” he said gently. “Can you understand me?”

The orc made no indication either way. He continued to growl and glare.

“I want to help you.” Elias took the one weapon he had, a long dagger, and showed the orc the blade before tossing it away. The orc stopped growling and blinked in apparent surprise. Elias shuffled closer on his knees, keeping his demeanor as non-threatening as possible. He almost snorted—as if a soft priest like him could be threatening. He kept speaking in low tones as he would to a frightened animal. He kept his pack held out in front of him, hoping the harmless items would convince the orc he wasn’t a hunter.

The orc’s large nostrils flared, and he squinted into the bag. He must have smelled the remaining apples, the plant samples, and the few healing ointments Elias carried with him everywhere. Elias set the bag within easy reach of the orc just in case he wanted to investigate. Then he took a good look at the steel jaws and winced.

The orc didn’t wear shoes, his sturdy, rough feet tough enough not to need them. His nails were more like claws, almost identical to those on his fingers. The trap would have been covered, and he’d stepped directly onto the triggering mechanism. The blades had barely missed his foot to cut into his ankle, probably scraping against the bones and tendons.

Elias took a moment to fight nausea.

“Damn. Once I free your leg it’s going to bleed profusely. I have to wrap it fast and tight.” He glanced up and met the orc’s eyes. Grim determination stared back at him and Elias blinked. “You do understand me.”

Review: Guarding Axel (Dark Forest Pack #3) by Annabelle Jacobs

Guarding Axel is the penultimate book in Jacobs’ Dark Forest Park series, so the series arc themes, which are plentiful, need to start coming together.

Axel Molhieth, a tormented Fae with full of secrets and a dark past has been a great source of mystery and interest for me and I think most people. Especially when it comes to the complicated relationship he has with the wolf shifter Talis.

Best friends until the enemy captures Axel , Talis, and others with a toxic Fae plant . The fallout from that traumatic event, destroys their close relationship, and sets the pack to guarding Axel against an old betrayer from his past.

I was looking forward to this story because of the hot chemistry between the were Talis and the Fae Axel but something happened and along the way, it dissipated under the weight of Axel’s overly complicated “secret “ and inability to trust within the storyline.

While Talis remains the tormented soul, denied his bond by Axel, by circumstances, hurt by the close proximity of Axel, Talis is the strongest character in the story. The most compelling.

That’s partly the reason why the story doesn’t work out as well. Both main characters need to balance out each other and, for me at least, they don’t.

Jacobs builds up this enormous amount of narrative suspense and anticipatory anguish around a secret that Axel’s been holding onto. It’s the one keeping him from having a relationship with Talis, why he’s causing so much drama and damage within the pack structure, so it should be something so earth shattering, so emotionally and physically traumatizing to makeup for all the harm the reader sees him causing for us to make sense of it all.

It’s one his cousin knows about. Btw.

But when it’s revealed, I kept waiting for the rest of the reveal. Thinking surely there’s more. There wasn’t.

And when his own cousin and the mate of the Alpha both tell Axel , the equivalent of “snap out of it” because you know better, this has been going on for too long, then either the secret wasn’t written well enough or this element was executed in a way that made Axel a character I just couldn’t connect with.

There’s far too many loose ends. I’m sure Jacobs will pick them up in the next book. But this just didn’t have the same feeling as the previous stories, at least as far as the main couple. I didn’t feel like Axel had a great relationship with either the pack or Talis, given his actions and inability to understand how they impacted those around him.

Usually Annabelle Jacobs does a great job explaining the dynamics behind those decisions and how the character comes back into balance. Here I never thought that happened.

I’m looking forward to Loving Jake, the series finale. And to seeing how everything plays out.

Review: Rago: An Order Universe Short Story by Kasia Bacon

Rating: 4.5🌈

Utterly charming. Kasia Bacon’s short fantasy stories are succinct well developed windows into her established, ever widening Order Universe. Each has its own unique narrative with a different location, couple, often complete with cultural references and fleeting hints from past events.

Always my main issue is they’re over too soon, leaving us wanting more with a couple we’ve just connected with, and learned to love.

Rago brings that home because this contains too such beautifully crafted characters, totally different, yet so perfectly balanced and defined that they’re immediately recognizable, real and breathtaking in their fated mates magic.

There’s Lieutenant Laahn Ĉortez, with a background the author so delicately hints at, one of a family he’s risen above and a recent traumatizing past as a prisoner of war in a brutally, cruel enemy prison. She fleshes him out as a highly respected soldier and man of character in just mere sentences.

It’s a fabulous layered portrait . We know exactly who Laahn is. But we aren’t prepared for the sheer adorability , the absolute magic that is Rago! The dragon shifter that’s recognized it’s mate and is crying out its need!

They are so sweet and perfect for each other. Laahn who hasn’t felt safe before now and the sweetness of the dragon warrior who has found his mate.

I was entranced by their meeting, charmed by their love, and wanted to know what happened next. And about Rago’s people.

Laahn and Rago are magic and I hope Bacon brings them back in another story.

There’s a guide to the Order Universe at the back but it’s not necessary to have read any of the other books to enjoy Rago!

I’m highly recommending it to all lovers of fantasy, fated mates, and dragons.

Review: Endurance: The Triad Series: Book Two by Cari Z

With Endurance, Cari Z’s Trilogy, The Triad, just overcame the second book hurdle and became stronger and more moving a story.

Changing her format here, the author divides the book into three sections, one for each of her main characters and members of the polyamorous relationship. This arrangement where each man receives an equal amount of narrative time with the reader allows her to explore each personality so much more in depth than previously seen.

The story has moved forward, the men now in a loving polygamous relationship but only two of them , Princes Symon and Petur, legally married, the third , Deyvid, the ex Harrior warrior bodyguard being seen by others outside the triad as a hidden lover.

The stakes facing them are high as the Harriors, Deyvid’s former Head of Clan , are coming for all the other Kingdoms, using assassins, betrayal, and political attacks. Including one killer very close to Deyvid.

Petur’s nephew Prince Arven’s wedding, an alliance necessity, into a Kingdom whose culture doesn’t welcome or respect shifters or same sex relationships is adding unbelievable stress . Especially as attacks happen that seem to try to prevent them from getting there for the marriage.

And Symon is getting sick , and thinks it’s his mother’s debilitating curse attacking him.

The author handles all these important issues so well, letting us see how the untold stress , the unrelenting pressure is impacting each man and their relationship. From the attacks on each other and their bonds, to the expectations that they think they must live up to, their own responsibilities, their obligations, and the new revelations each event seems to throw at them, we get to see how, well or or how badly each man tries to deal with the fluctuating reality of their situations.

In Alliance, Symon and Deyvid were clear favorites. Petur had less narrative page time, so we really didn’t see him clearly as a man, ruler, or true member of this polyamorous group.

But in Endurance, Petur becomes seen, an equal partner, a man who’s capable of showing both his strengths and admitting his weaknesses and fears. And there’s plenty to be fearful of in this book. All his beloveds are being threatened. His very marriage and family are at risk. We see his foundation being shaken. And not just his.

As we go from man to man, threat to threat, deep fears and the anguish of loss permeates the entire storyline.

Symon and Deyvid have strong compelling stories of their own here that intertwine with all the complex plotting of their other mate, Petur’s.

The end is both a cliffhanger and a heartbreaker. It makes us quickly yearn for the finale to come, Dominion.

I highly recommend this story, but it’s one that must be read in order for the characters, their relationships, the the complicated plot developments to make sense.

This is just beautifully done all the way, in every aspect. I hope she keeps the new format as it has really captured her characters fully and made the author’s imagination and plot soar!

Review: Off The Wall by Edie Montreux

Off The Wall by Edie Montreux is a fantasy novel by a writer i just discovered. I always want to be positive about books by a as new to me author.

But I found myself struggling to find some good aspects of this fantasy book to highlight.

It’s not the storylines originality. The author doesn’t help herself by telling us exactly what her inspiration was when plotting her story (the movie ‘Overboard’ – “”It’s Overboard, but she’s a princess, her rescuer is gay, and she mistakes him for her brother, also gay.” Then mixed with , also in the author’s words , “Throw in a royal marriage proposal (The Princess Bride) and a royal decree on marriage “(” You must be married to a prince,” a.k.a. Aladdin), and it practically wrote itself.”

Le sigh, as they say.

The characters hold appeal. They are the strength of the book. But for every strength the author layers in, like Rye’s relationships with his family and especially his brother Trevor, a challenging dynamic that gets a believable amount of growth, there’s a equally weak and unsettling element.

Here it’s the manner in which Prince Cyril is portrayed. A “himbo prince “, a scatter brain, “lazy”, who can’t do his own work or school book training. A dreamer who can’t even remember math numbers correctly.

Are things adding up for you here?

Was Montreux truly unaware that Cyril is written as someone who’s learning disabled or challenged? That every word the other characters, including the man who’s supposedly been in love with him, who calls him lazy, are intolerant, and often ugly ?

Yes, Cyril may have had a privileged, tightly controlled upbringing but he’s , as written a sweet, open hearted person. Yet he’s being mocked for his lack of ability to understand mathematics, ability to concentrate, and other things seemingly out of his control.

Not a nice element.

The moat dragon comes and goes at will. It’s not a well developed part of this book and storyline, especially at the end where it obeys surprise commands. Really?

But aside from the characters within Rye’s family, the reader has to live with the feel and flow of a narrative overflowing with a density of details.

Need a chair? We get the type of wood, how it was made, type of lathe, two backs,spindles. The story becomes burdensome with knowledge that slows down the movement of the narrative until the pace is downright glacial.

And it’s not just slow.

There’s no energy or enormous mountains to overcome, it’s all monotonous in the feel of the narrative. There are those stories where the main characters journey is literally laid out before you. Days, weeks, months of them living together, doing chores, rehashing their history, and it works on a deeply believable, emotional level. The reader is so invested in this life with them that the slowness doesn’t bother them.

Then there’s the books where the same journey goes on as it is written above but the reader instead feels “Omg,will they just get on with it “.

Off The Wall becomes the later, a draining narrative of endless chatter about farm chores , animals, clothing, and choices. It’s all on a one low energy level sort of basis.

As said, Montreux loves to describe things . Everything is very detailed. In a book where there’s a deficit of energy to begin with, hardly any suspense or action in a plot where a Prince and a princess, a moat dragon and even a Kingdom are at risk, well , more details aren’t quite the thing that’s missing here.

There’s no battles, nary a sword fight, the villain is rarely seen and his death is swiftly done and forgotten.

This is an example of the type of narrative and detail here:

“Building their cabin proved to be enough of a challenge in the early days. It took Rye all spring to find the right wood to make the beams. Once the frame was built, Cyril helped him with the walls and the thatched roof until the cool mornings gave way to hot afternoons. They spent those in the cool stone of the outpost until it was too hot. Then, they would cool off in the nearby stream. Finally, on the first day of autumn, Rye considered their little house a home worthy of a prince. It had three rooms, like his parents’ original cottage. The sitting room, kitchen, and dining room”

The next paragraph is about how and what type of rooms the house had. What they were lined with, how many chairs, the type of chairs. Etc.

Next paragraph is all about building their bed, their dresser, etc.

On, and on. Details upon details.

Imagine pages and pages of this.

The entire book is like this.

Even their sexual activity is a manual. Just read as so non sexy.

It took everything I had to finish this.

Read the above passage. Decide if that sort of writing is your thing.

Content Warning: Off the Wall contains fantasy violence with swords, assassins, dungeons, and the aforementioned hungry moat dragon. It also contains farm animal battery for butchering. There is mention of a fatal plague-like disease.

Review: Alliance: The Triad Series: Book One by Cari Z

Alliance is a new polyamorous M/M/M fantasy from author Cari Z, the first in a series.

I enjoyed the book and my introduction to all three main characters, Symon Parador (mage and reluctant groom), queen’s brother, Prince Petur (shifter with multiple shapes, also reluctant groom ), and Deyvid, a warrior/bodyguard who’s been made null to all magic (and who happens to be Petur’s not so hidden love for years).

Cari Z weaves the three person POV between these characters, starting with my favorite, Symon. It’s he who gets the shocking news he’s immediately to be married to Petur, then the equally unpleasant element that Petur’s got a long time love . Nothing says Symon will be happy or welcome in his new life.

Symon becomes, through his deep, passionate and empathetic spirit that the author has created for him, a person we connect to. His journey to his new life with the Prince’s guards lets the reader and guards form a foundation of knowledge of him that makes Symon a great favorite here.

I only wish that I had more of a glimpse of how Symon looks as a whole, beyond his eyes, jewelry, piercings and great magical abilities. We get individual snapshots but never a whole picture. That’s frustrating. Clothes? Hair? Everything that would help flesh out the man and culture he came from.

Oddly, it’s Deyvid, the warrior who’s also the long time love of Petur that’s next in powerful character embodiment. Deyvid’s a character who is second in coming across as being the most fully formed. We see him. From his figure to his face which always carries a faint aroma of a stain , we can see him. His background and personality feels the most layered next to Symon’s, his personality the more complex, and his personal back story is certainly full of angst, deception, betrayal, and damage.

I have the weirdest feeling that the author just loves writing him because the chemistry Cari Z creates for him , starts with Symon, and then Petur. But it’s Deyvid who’s the glue here of the triad.

Finally there’s Prince Petur. He’s not a character who has a great appeal to begin with. There’s little interaction with others, what we see is quick, sexy moments with Deyvid, and solo moments of intense concentration on his own inner plans and suspicions. When we do see him meet up with Symon, someone we’ve come to love, it reflects poorly on Petur.

Of the three, he’s the weakest link. The one with the least amount of information offered to the reader, the lack of background on the shifter species he belongs to is frustrating, as is the world building here as a whole.

I hope that the next story, Endurance, will build out on the universe so lightly framed out here.

Also on the monarchy and kingdoms that have their political roots at the heart of the arc espionage’s threats. That too was not fully established.

Alliance: The Triad Series: Book One by Cari Z is an entertaining fantasy novel. I felt the triad romance was unbalanced towards two of the men who had most of the narrative time , most of the chemistry, and frankly, were my favorites. Prince Petur wasn’t given the same page time as the others so when he espoused that he now loved Symon, it wasn’t believable. It didn’t have the necessary time to become real.

If you want a fantasy with enemies to lovers romance with a triad of three interesting characters, and ongoing mysteries, this is a good place to start.

Review: Brimstone (a Culinary Creatures novella) by L. Eveland

L. Eveland was a new author for me when I stumbled across the covers for this series. Another example of never underestimating the power of great graphic cover design .

Then come the blurb. Food, high grade restaurant , cooking, and demon chef. Like that doesn’t confirm something I’ve suspected for years! I was definitely checking it out.

Human Chef Adam has worked and strived and cooked his entire life in order to achieve his dream of becoming a professional chef and working with the universally renowned restauranteur and chef, Chef Inzo Amoretti, owner of the famous 3 star Michelin restaurant, Brimstone.

Chef Inzo, an immortal incubus, hired the immensely talented human chef, Adam, when the passion Adam has for his profession and the meals he creates, ignited Chef Inzo Amoretti ‘s flagging energies and own passions .

But the the presence of Adam in Inzo’s restaurant reveals something far greater, and dangerous to them both.

Eveland has delivered a delicious, kinky paranormal romance. It’s awash with sensuality, threaded with the riches of the senses through foods, sauces, aroma, differing sexual desires and kinks. The author doesn’t fail the romance, powering up an equally fierce love for each other as well as all the high quality ingredients and sensational flavors .

Be prepared to drool over the preparation and recipes of the new dishes that have unexpected touches inspired by Adam and his demon Chef.

All the above combines into a mate bond tale of lusty romance and satisfying relationship, at least in that we have only a few questions left unanswered about their life spans together.

This story will happily continue into the next book, Beefcake. That will feature another couple and a wedding cake.

Can’t wait.

This is a definite recommendation!

Review: Woods of the Raven by Mary Calmes

Mary Calmes has written a splendid mystical tale of witches, mythology, dark ancient magical struggle for power and land, and a journey to love.

I found myself instantly wrapped up in the world of Osprey, New York , circa 1825 on the books but actually so far earlier. One whose history extends beyond that of the human race and into the realm of the mythological.

It starts with 32 year old Xander Corey, librarian and witch. Exactly what type will be revealed as the story proceeds. Xander and the ancient family house, and the land on which it rests are the heart of the story.

And they’re a fabulous one. Xander, the house, and the land . All distinct. All inclusive. Calmes’ done an exceptional job in creating a world where all three are believable, rich, and living beings, each in their own unique way. How the reader comes into that knowledge is part of this terrific book.

Chief of Police Lorne MacBain is the other half of the romantic equation here. Lorne’s personality and history is a slow reveal. Only coming about as Xander (and us) finds out what actually brought him to town. It will bring about the change in perspective for his early actions which can be seen in a new way.

The town, it’s people, the events as they happen. All well plotted and exciting. The people are typical of Calmes in that they are beautifully drawn and we come to care for them as greatly as we do the main characters.

We really need to see more of those dogs!

I absolutely was drawn into the suspense and mystery here. I love the magic and the Norse mythology that’s threaded fully into every aspect of Calmes’ narrative. It’s enriched the story in an innovative way.

I’m hoping that this is merely the start of a series and new adventures that the author intends to explore further. It certainly deserves it.

I’m highly recommending Woods of the Raven by Mary Calmes for all lovers of fantasy romance and this author.
