Love or hate. Life or death. No inbetween. No compromise. No rules in love and war.

Knight. Party monster. Handsome Savage. Doesn’t do monogamy.

Elliot. Obsessive. Intense. Uncompromising.

Newly single, Knight is done with relationships. All he’s interested in is bringing down The Count, an Internet personality who is tarnishing his family name. An opportunity to crush him comes when the audacious clown shows up at the Kings of Hell MC clubhouse to film for his YouTube channel. But when Knight meets Elliot, the man behind The Count, he no longer knows what to do with him.

Knight has never seen a more pathetic creature than Elliot. He’s also never met anyone who needed him more. Skinny, messed up, and a bucket of trouble as thick as tar, everything Elliot does seems to be a wordless death wish. No matter how much Knight hates Elliot’s alter ego, under the makeup and theatrics hides a fragile young guy with a passion for history, and Knight can’t help but catch Elliot every time he falls.

Elliot has bad taste in men. Always hopelessly attracted to violent brutes, his favorite is a long dead serial killer. But he gets more than he’s bargained for when he seizes an opportunity to meet the man of his dreams. The ghost is manipulative and dangerous, offering Elliot all he’s always wanted, for a price he can’t possibly pay.

Elliot is faced with an impossible choice between two men.

One alive, one dead.

One carnal and honest, one drizzling sweet, poisoned promises into his ear.

One unwilling to commit, the other promising an eternity together.

And Elliot doesn’t settle for half-measures. He craves a love that is all or nothing, passion that will consume him, and desire to burn him alive.

Elliot is ready to either get that, or die trying.

An Ali Audiobook Review: Setting the Hook (Love’s Charter #1) by Andrew Grey and Greg Tremblay (Narrator)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
It could be the catch of a lifetime.

William Westmoreland escapes his unfulfilling Rhode Island existence by traveling to Florida twice a year and chartering Mike Jansen’s fishing boat to take him out on the Gulf. The crystal-blue water and tropical scenery isn’t the only view William enjoys, but he’s never made his move. A vacation romance just isn’t on his horizon.

Mike started his Apalachicola charter fishing service as a way to care for his daughter and mother, putting their safety and security ahead of the needs of his own heart. Denying his attraction becomes harder with each of William’s visits.

William and Mike’s latest fishing excursion starts with a beautiful day, but a hurricane’s erratic course changes everything, stranding William. As the wind and rain rage outside, the passion the two men have been trying to resist for years crashes over them. In the storm’s wake, it leaves both men yearning to prolong what they have found. But real life pulls William back to his obligations. Can they find a way to reduce the distance between them and discover a place where their souls can meet? The journey will require rough sailing, but the bright future at the end might be worth the choppy seas.

I hadn’t read this author in a few years (cuz I’m easily distracted with new authors) but this blurb sounded interesting so I decided to give it a try.  I’m really glad I did as I enjoyed this very much.  The blurb summaries the base part of the plot well.  A few major events happen that lead to these two men spending time together and falling for each other. I found the plot unique and it wasn’t along the lines of anything I’d read before.  The romance was a slow burn and I thought it developed in a very natural and believable manner.  When they did get together it was a sweet and touching.
One of the best parts of the book to me was the character development.  I liked both of these MC’s for a variety of reasons.  It was nice to see characters that were a little older than most romance books and I liked the way Mike is portrayed as a father.
The two hit some rough patches so it’s not all smooth sailing but they get their much deserved happily ever after in the end.
This audiobook was narrated by Greg Tremblay and I thought he did a very good job.  He is a narrator that I’ve listened to a lot and I find his narrations consistently good.  If you enjoy audiobooks I would definitely recommend that you try this one.
This cover was designed by L.C Chase and I think it is just gorgeous.  It perfectly captures the feel of the book and I think it’s very eye catching and appealing.

A Barb the Zany Old Lady Review: Get a Grip (Bluewater Bay #19) by L.A. Witt

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

When a storm drops a tree through a soundstage at the Wolf’s Landing TV show site, it’s grip Shane Andrews who has to check for damages once the scene is cleared for safety by local volunteer firefighters.  He nearly swallows his tongue when he first spots firefighter Aaron Tucker.  In his mid-forties, he’s got the necessary touch of gray to make him a borderline silver fox, but it’s the rest of his package that makes Shane’s mouth water.  And when Shane takes that as a signal that it’s time to have some fun in his life, he’s shocked when it’s Aaron who first responds to his profile on Grindr.

Twice divorced—once from a woman and most recently from a man, Shane has three children and their welfare has always come first.  But he’s determined to live a little for himself now that he’s made his decision.  His daughter is old enough to babysit and his ex-husband is happy to take the kids anytime he needs help, so why not?

By the second “date” with Aaron, he commits a faux pas when he tells Aaron he doesn’t think he can do a friends-with-benefits, no-strings-attached relationship, but when Aaron states unequivocally that he will only do hookups, Shane reconsiders and starts to enjoy his flings with the sexy man.  But then after several months, when Aaron decides he wants more, Shane is ill-prepared to handle the thought of having a man get involved with his family and possibly disappoint the kids again.  Who knows what will happen with these two stubborn men?  The fun is in reading this story!

I am really enjoying the recent influx of stories involving men over forty, second chances at love, silver foxes, and more, and this was no exception.  I picked it up because it was Bluewater Bay—a series I’m totally enjoying—and I was no more than one chapter in when I realized I was reading LA Witt.  Yes, I didn’t check first, and yes, her style is unique and a fan like me an easily identify it. And yes, it’s hot and heavy sex, two men who can’t get enough of each other, and finally, the long-awaited emotional attachment when they realize it’s not just sex anymore.  So in a way, it follows a formula this author has been highly successful pulling off. But honestly? I don’t care.  LA Witt does it best and came through with this one.  It’s hot and steamy, older guys who take their time and fall in love.  What’s not to like?  I highly recommend this one to lovers of MM romance, Bluewater Bay, LA Witt, older MCs, men with pets, men with children, firemen, etc.  I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, it’s a winner.

Cover art by LC Chase depicts two handsome men, one in firefighter uniform, the other simply a stunningly handsome man, set against the backdrop of the rural area of Washington state.  It’s not only very attractive but also true to the story.

A MelanieM Release Day Review: Wheat Kings and Pretty Things by C.S. Wiley

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

As soon as he graduated high school, Paul Thompson fled the tiny, heavily Ukrainian town of Liddon, Saskatchewan, for bigger and better things. Now in his late thirties, Paul owns a struggling art gallery in Toronto. His grandmother’s one-hundredth birthday is approaching, and Paul will return to place where he grew up for the first time since he left.

The town—and the province—don’t match Paul’s memories. Have they changed? Or has he? He reconnects with Dylan Shevchenko, an old friend who now teaches phys. ed. in Regina. When Paul learns his grandmother had an Aboriginal son he never knew about, he wonders what else he missed while he was away. Did he make the right choice all those years ago? He receives the rare opportunity to start over when he discovers a gallery for sale in Regina. He’s faced with a choice between his youthful dreams in the big city and making a life with Dylan in a place that somehow finally feels like home.

Wheat Kings and Pretty Things by G.S. Wiley is half, maybe two thirds of a great story.  I was rolling right along, happily into Paul Thompson’s reconnection with his roots, his decision to close up his gallery in Toronto and buy a smaller one in Regina and rediscover the man he left behind, as well as family and his past.  Then boom, story over.

Frankly, I was shocked.

I should have realized.  I mean it was only 45 pages but still, I wasn’t keeping count as I was reading and there was no indication that it was drawing to a close.  Indeed, I thought, logically, it was only beginning to ramp up.  Decision made, action taken, now let’s get to the deeper stuff.  Let’s have the author really show the connection growing between Dylan and Paul, Paul and the community of people he left behind, etc. Instead we get the decision, the move and then the ending of the story.  All of the narrative that should have been there, that would have made this an outstanding story is missing.  What happens to the gallery, the First Nations art from the newly discovered family connection? How’s his “city” partner adjusting? Above all how about the romance? I could go on and on with the huge holes that glare out at you here.  The only thing that’s keeping this from plunging into the 2 star category is that what’s there is well written and promising.  I liked the characters and  everything that I read.

It’s not a full story, in my opinion.

I can’t even tell you there’s a romance here. If there is, it’s not much of one.  That’s sort of missing too along with the rest of the story.  This really comes across as a 45 page teaser of a terrific novel that’s coming down the pike.

I’m going to stop writing now before I revise that rating.

Cover Artist: Brooke Albrecht.  Cover is gorgeous, Dylan is captured beautifully. I’ll pass on Paul.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words is happy to have Ari McKay here again talking fae, werewolves and romance with their latest novel Out of the Ashes! Welcome!

✒︎

Hi, everyone! A big thank you to our hosts here at Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words for hosting us today, and to you for joining us! Ari here again, bringing you an excerpt from our latest release, Out of the Ashes, the debut novel of the Dreamspun Beyond line and book one of our new series, Asheville Arcana! To say we are excited is definitely an understatement! We’ve been looking forward to this for months, and we’re over the moon that it’s finally here!!!

Out of the Ashes is a love story, and a mystery, and a drama, and a comedy, all built around a world where the creatures of myth and legend exist beside but unknown to the mortal world. We wanted to build a unique setting that was all our own, one where elves and dwarves, werewolves and wizards, ghosts and vampires and demons all play a part. At the same time, though, we had to balance our world building with the strictures of length and structure of the Dreamspun Beyond line, and we hope you enjoy this story, and that we give you enough of a glimpse of the bigger picture to make you want to come back for more! I’ve talked a lot in other places about how and why we came to this story, so today I want to just leave you with a taste of what we have to offer, to hopefully entice you into giving us a try! Enjoy!

MOST nights, Arden slept like a baby. Once his head hit the pillow, he was out like a light. Unless, of course, someone was sharing his bed, which happened with less frequency over the last ten years or so. He still had an active social life, but he’d begun working longer hours after building his second resort, the Hilltop. When he felt the need for intimacy, he tended to gravitate toward Whimsy and Julian and one or two other longtime partners, rather than jumping in to find someone new and exciting.

But after having dinner with Whimsy, Arden had kissed his friend good night and gone to bed alone. He told himself it was because he’d had a busy day, and the next day promised to be even worse, but the fact was that he couldn’t sleep for thinking about Eli Hammond.

The werewolf was gorgeous—there was no denying it. With a positively leonine mane of dark, sun-streaked blond hair and crystal-blue eyes, Eli was enough to make even someone as used to beauty as Arden sit up and take notice. He was also huge and buff, and Arden was desperately curious to see what Eli looked like naked, although his imagination insisted on supplying plenty of images to taunt him. But it was more than just his stunning looks that appealed to Arden, and more, even, than the tragedy of Eli’s plight. There was something special about Eli, and Arden felt drawn to him like a moth to flame.

Arden had, of course, noticed Eli’s aura at once, and it had nearly knocked him out of his seat. Not all supernaturals could see auras, but Arden, like his father, had been born with the gift. Other supernaturals—such as Julian—learned to do it after a great deal of study and meditation, but most couldn’t see them at all. And what Arden saw was stunning.

Every creature had a unique aura, determined both by what they were and who they were. Vampires, like Julian, all had a misty, silvery aura with different shapes and tones based on their age and if they were a good, bad, or neutral type of person. Elves tended toward golden, and dryads, not surprisingly, were usually green. Werewolves had deep crimson auras, but while the core of Eli’s had been red where Arden observed it close to his body, it quickly became a beautiful, multihued halo that was almost like looking at the sun. No one Arden had ever seen had looked so bright, and that was part of why he’d known he had to help Eli, no matter what the council or anyone else said about it.

But thoughts of Eli kept Arden awake most of the night. He felt himself pulled to the werewolf, as though there was an invisible connection between them. It was odd, but Arden found himself wanting to go check on Eli in the middle of the night, to make certain he was all right and didn’t need anything. Which was probably stupid, considering that Eli was an alpha werewolf who could obviously take care of himself quite well. Eli would probably think there was something very wrong with Arden wanting to cuddle up to him, run his fingers through Eli’s hair, and just be close to him.

He finally gave up trying to sleep and went to his office, immersing himself in paperwork until his watch beeped at him at his normal waking time. Taking himself off to the kitchen, he ordered up an enormous breakfast of bacon, sausage, ham, fried eggs, hash browns, grits, and toast. When the cook had prepared the tray, he picked it up and carried it out to Eli’s cabin, balancing it carefully as he knocked on the door.

A few moments later, Eli opened the door. His long, wavy hair was a sleep-tousled mess falling around his broad shoulders, and he wore only a pair of jeans that rode low on his hips. His chest and feet were bare, giving Arden an unhindered look at the sculpted pecs and washboard abs that had been hidden beneath his clothes yesterday.

Eli blinked sleepily at Arden and rubbed his neatly trimmed beard, but when he saw the loaded tray, his eyes widened with surprise.

“I didn’t order breakfast.”

For a long moment Arden couldn’t speak; it wasn’t every day that he got to see a warm, sleepy, nearly naked hunk of buff hotness up close. In fact, he couldn’t remember ever seeing anyone as gorgeous as Eli before in the whole of his three hundred and six years of life.

Thanks so much!

“Oof!” Thayne huffed out against the solid wood of the bedroom door. Jarrett had walked into the room, pulling his lover in after him, and before Thayne knew what was happening, he was spun around and pinned face-first against the door with a very hot and hard man against his back. He turned his head to the side and looked over his shoulder. Jarrett’s taller body blanketed his back and his muscled arms caged him on either side, hands planted flat against the door the way they were. Jarrett felt sexy as hell pressed against him and the slight scent of sweat from the armpit beside his head had him reeling in lust, just that fast.

“Gonna fuck you against this door or on that floor. Pick one,” Jarrett growled into his ear. The low rumbling sound of his voice and the hard ridge of his cock sliding against the crack of Thayne’s ass through the jeans he wore had his cock stiff in seconds. He groaned as Jarrett rocked against him. “Which one? Door or floor?”

Son of a bitch. “Both?” Thayne gasped.

Jarrett’s low chuckle and the squeeze of his hand on his cock as he reached around sent a wave of pure lust shuddering through him. He didn’t know what it was that had Jarrett so worked up. They’d driven home from the hospital and said goodnight to everyone else but the moment they were out of sight of everyone, Jarrett was dragging him down the hall to the bedroom as fast as he could walk. It was rare that he got in this mood and Thayne was purposeful in the way he pushed his ass back against the thick, stiff ridge of Jarrett’s cock. He wanted him out of his mind with lust and it seemed as if he was. A second later he had to gasp again when Jarrett bit his neck, all the while working the buttons of his jeans. He nibbled up Thayne’s neck to his ear and took the lobe in his mouth, biting it gently as he huffed hot air against his ear. Thayne shivered with desire and arousal.

“Fuck me, already. The lube is in my kit,” Thayne rasped out, finding the power of speech especially difficult at the moment.

“Don’t move,” Jarrett said, yanking Thayne’s jeans to his thighs before disappearing deeper into the room.

The mystery on the reservation only deepens when they start putting two and two together. Questionable cigarettes at the Ahtunowhiho Trading Post may be the least of their worries.

A MelanieM Review: Love on the Boil (Love On # 5) by Neil Plakcy

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

What if the one who got away came back–and you had to work together to achieve your dreams?

Eddie Gonzalez and Darren Carter had a hot college romance, which derailed when they graduated and went in different directions. But now they’re both on South Beach, both trying to start gourmet tea businesses. A venture capitalist forces them to collaborate–but will the sexual tension between them heat up–or send their venture down in flames?

Neil Plakcy’s Mahu series is a favorite of mine.  His command of the local cultures and colloquialisms combined with strong characters and love of the island history has made that such a stunning series.  Some of those strengths are on display here.

The things that I enjoyed about Love on the Boil are things that I enjoyed in other books Plakcy has written.  The Miami locations, the Cuban neighborhoods, Eddie’s large family and Darren’s troubled relationship with his father.  The Ohio bottling plant with it’s hispanic manager and workers, all these elements were so carefully and vividly brought to life.  This author has always handled those varied cultural aspects of the story so well.

Also thoroughly enjoyable?  All the information about the teas, whether in the cocktails or business side.  That was fascinating.  But really, less fun was the main couple at the heart of the story.  That would be Eddie and Darren.

Unfortunately, I found them to be mostly irritating.  Eddie starts off as an uncommunicative jerk and stays that way.  Darren is a close second.  Sex seems to come first with them, their businesses second and third for all their posturing.  They don’t trust each other after reconnecting, yet they throw their businesses together, move in etc.  There is a boyfriend on Darren’s side that throws the story into a whole “icky” side street.  And on top of all that, an entrepreneur who “magically” agrees to fund them, not one but twice, not based on a sound business plan but a romance?  After being an acute businessman for the majority of the story?  There was nothing to account for such an about face.

Balancing the good with the bad because there were things I did sort of like about each characters separately (not together mind you), and elements that swirled about them,  the rating averaged into a 3 star rating.   It will also send me back into the Mahu series for a refresher in Kimo and Mike.

A MelanieM Release Day Review: Antisocial by Heidi Cullinan

Rating: 5+ out of 5

A single stroke can change your world.

Xander Fairchild can’t stand people in general and frat boys in particular, so when he’s forced to spend his summer working on his senior project with Skylar Stone, a silver-tongued Delta Sig with a trust fund who wants to make Xander over into a shiny new image, Xander is determined to resist. He came to idyllic, Japanese culture-soaked Benten College to hide and make manga, not to be transformed into a corporate clone in the eleventh hour.

Skylar’s life has been laid out for him since before he was born, but all it takes is one look at Xander’s artwork, and the veneer around him begins to crack. Xander himself does plenty of damage too. There’s something about the antisocial artist’s refusal to yield that forces Skylar to acknowledge how much his own orchestrated future is killing him slowly…as is the truth about his gray-spectrum sexuality, which he hasn’t dared to speak aloud, even to himself.

Through a summer of art and friendship, Xander and Skylar learn more about each other, themselves, and their feelings for one another. But as their senior year begins, they must decide if they will part ways and return to the dull futures they had planned, or if they will take a risk and leap into a brightly colored future—together.

I’ve loved this author and her stories just forever and for so many different reasons.  And I have many several 5 stars reviews of her stories.  Cullinan always was one of my baselines in for bringing in unusual yet thoroughly realistic characters and situations and letting me connect emotionally on deep levels with each and every one.  Yet once I finished Antisocial, I was stunned by it’s beauty and its depth, Cullinan’s handling of asexuality and the main characters relationship.  I think it’s the best story she’s written.  Even now Xander and Skylar, their transformation from, well, if not frenemies, strangers on campus, to friends to lovers with their own HEA is one that continues to resonate within me.

The warmth of Cullinan’s style of writing is one that pulls a reader, this reader, intimately into her stories and lives of her characters.  Whether it’s the damaged, artistic Xander or stressed, high-society Skylar Stone, the Greek with the silver tongue and closet of secrets, Cullinan gently ushers you into their minds and hearts.  She reveals the detritus of Stone’s upbringing that’s keeping him from growing into the person he can be, the same being said for Xander too.  Then uses the Pygmalion story in a wonderful reversal that will thread elements together and bring closure in an emotionally satisfying and joyous climax.

In between, we get an amazing exploration of what asexuality in different forms can mean to a couple, to a person or persons and to a romance/relationship. The scenes with simple touches gave me shivers of delight as her descriptions telegraphed what it meant to Xander, Skylar and both of them as couple so beautifully.  Each explore the fact that there’s not just one “ace label” or two, but a spectrum of grey as it were.  Something other characters will or already understand.  Cullinan brings the element of asexuality and threads it throughout Antisocial in a number of ways, stunning, unexpected, and important ways.

A great plus?  The manga details and Japanese art history details that this story is laced with, like the woodcuts of Hokusai, seen to the right.  Finally, there is the cast of characters that surround and support Xander and Skylar, ones that I want to see so much more of.  All the tight members of the group from Lucky 7, especially Unc.  I would  plead with the author to bring them all back for more stories as I fell in love with all of them too.

But this is truly Xander and Skylar’s story and it’s in my top five of 2017.  The beauty of its story, its characters and relationship, the complexities of their romance, the growth and change each underwent in order for a future to be possible for them together.  Well, it still brings tears to my eyes and a glow to my heart.  I highly recommend this to you all.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words is happy to have  Heidi Cullinan here on her Antisocial tour.  Welcome, Heidi!

Thanks so much for having me here today! I’m stopping by as part of my tour for my new novel Antisocial, a new adult gay and asexual romance set in a fictional college in upstate New York between a one-percenter fraternity boy and a highly antisocial artist. It released today, and in celebration I’m going to give you an extra special peek inside the story: I’m going to tell you a bit more about the story within the story, the manga the characters create, The Adventures of Hotay & Moo.

The Adventures of Hotay & Moo is, within the story of Antisocial, a manga within the school magazine Lucky 7, but it has been in the magazine’s history a comic and a short story as well. (The comic and manga versions are identical, of course, except in style and direction of the print.) What is consistent are the main characters, Hotay, who is based on the Shinto god Hotei, one of the seven gods of fortune, and Moo, who is based on Fudō Myōō, the Japanese version of Acala, a Buddhist deity.

I regret that I can’t draw worth a damn—and I mean that I cannot draw at all—but I can give you a short, very short scene between Hotay and Moo. The characters in the book make several guesses as to who among them might most be like Hotay and Moo. There is of course no wrong answer. You’ll have to let me know what you think when you read it yourself.

For now, please enjoy this exclusive release day short from The Adventures of Hotay & Moo.

Moo was lying on his bed, contentedly reading when the door to his room burst open and his friend Hotay exploded into his serene space, red-faced and beaming. “Moo, it’s the cherry blossom festival today.”

“I know.” Moo turned a page and kept reading. “I saw the flyers.”

“Well, why didn’t you tell me? Moreover, why are we sitting here when there’s a festival to go to?” Hotay leaned over Moo so that his round face blocked the view to Moo’s page. “Put down your book, and let’s go into town.”

Moo glared at the interruption to his solitude. “I didn’t tell you because I assumed you still knew how to read. The flyers were everywhere. They’d attached them to everything tall and post-like. I’m frankly astounded they didn’t staple one to you.”

As usual, Hotay refused to rise to Moo’s jab. “Nah. I’m too fat to be mistaken for a post.” He flopped onto the end of Moo’s bed with a dramatic sigh. “Come on, Moo. Let’s go to the festival. It sounds amazing. There’s going to be a firework display and everything.”

“I hate firework displays. They’re far too loud.”

“There will be food. Grilled squid, pork kabobs, mochi ice cream.”

Moo did enjoy mochi ice cream. But he hated crowds more. “If you want to go so badly, go. You don’t need me along.”

“But I do need you.” Hotay nudged Moo’s foot with his elbow, jostling his book so soundly he dropped it. “I can’t enjoy myself if you’re not along.”

Moo refused to dignify this comment with a remark, settling instead for a withering glare.

Hotay laughed, hard enough to shake the bed. “See, who else is going to look at me like that?”

“The look wasn’t supposed to amuse you, Hotay.”

“I know, but it does amuse me. You make me happy, Moo.”

Everything makes you happy.”

“Well, that’s true. But you make me especially happy. You’re my dearest friend.”

Moo sighed and picked up his book again. “Your dearest friend wants to be left alone to read.”

“Then I suppose I shall have to let you do so.”

Hotay made no more commentary about the festival, and he didn’t even fidget overly, only sat idly at the foot of Moo’s bed, as if he truly were content to remain there while Moo read and the festival continued without him. Moo, of course, couldn’t read a word, knowing Hotay was missing out, not even when he tried to tell himself his friend had made his choices and it wasn’t Moo’s problem.

Eventually Moo put the book down and scowled. “Please. I’m begging you. Go to the festival without me. Surely you’ll run into someone there you know.”

Hotay shook his head, smiling, as if he hadn’t a care in the world. “Can’t do it. But don’t worry. I’ve decided you’re right, it’s a perfect night to stay at home. Though I wish I had a way to let Benny know, because I’m afraid she’s going to be terribly disappointed.”

Moo closed the book and sat up straight, all his senses on alert. “…Benny?”

“Oh? Didn’t I say? Benny is going to be at the festival. In fact, she specifically asked me to make sure I brought you along.”

Moo had never felt so many emotions at once. Euphoria that Benny had asked for him. Terror that Benny had asked for him. Confusion over why Benny would ask for him.

Fury that Hotay had withheld this from him for so long. Was Benny somewhere in the festival waiting for him? How long had she been waiting? Was she still there?

Hurling the book at Hotay’s head, Moo swung his legs off the bed and rose.

“Are you going somewhere?” Hotay asked, still lounging, though he was also rubbing his forehead where the book had hit him.

“Get your damn coat,” Moo muttered, sifting through his closet for his own. “Are we going to a festival, or not?”

When he turned around, coat in hand, Hotay was at the door, wearing his cloak, hat, and shoes, ready to go, grinning like the fool he was. “I thought you’d never ask.”
